HOW YOU ACCESS THE PRACTICE HAS CHANGED

Due to the current Coronavirus Pandemic, the way you access the Practice has changed. We are trying to safely resume as many of our services as possible, but we would ask you not to attend surgery unless asked to do so by a Clinician. If you do need to attend surgery please wear a face covering.

We are currently operating what is known as telephone triage. Your Clinician will review your problem and will then, depending on your needs:-

  • Offer you advice via text

  • Offer a video call

  • Ask to see you in person (face to face) or

  • Navigate you to other services

  • The surgery is open Monday to Friday from 8 am to 6.30 pm. If you have an urgent problem during these times please ring the surgery. At all other times ring NHS 111

  • Non-urgent problems, queries or sick note requests can be dealt with via eConsult. The Practice will respond within 2 working days

  • Face coverings are recommended when entering the building

  • The main doors to the Centre are closed. Before being allowed to enter the building you will need to press the intercom to the left of the entrance doors and advise the downstairs reception of the reason for your visit ie appointment at Springfields.

  • Please ensure on entering the premises you wash your hands using the wall mounted sanitisers

  • Our reception area has changed and you will see some chairs have signs on them not to use, this is to ensure patients attending surgery can safely socially distance whilst waiting for their appointment.

  • There is screening at our reception desk to protect you and our staff

Online Booking

We have had to temporarily suspend on-line booking for Face to Face appointments. We are still offering a small number of pre-bookable or on the day telephone appointments.

Prescriptions

We would encourage patients not to attend surgery to order their prescription and we are unable to take prescription requests over the telephone. If you require a prescription please either e-mail your request to warccg.springfieldsmc@nhs.net or if you are registered for on-line services, you can order your prescription through this service.

PLEASE DO NOT TELEPHONE THE SURGERY TO CHECK YOUR PRESCRIPTION IS READY AS THIS IS PUTTING ADDITIONAL PRESSURE ON OUR TELEPHONES. PRESCRIPTIONS ARE PROCESSED WITHIN 2 WORKING DAYS

Germ Defence - Advice to patients to reduce COVID 19 infections

What is Germ Defence and who made it?

Germ Defence is a website that gives simple advice to reduce the spread of COVID-19 in the home. It was designed by doctors, scientists and psychologists and was tested with 20,000 people during the swine ‘flu pandemic in 2009. It has recently been updated for COVID-19.

How will using Germ Defence help me?

During the swine ‘flu pandemic, people who used Germ Defence had fewer cold/’flu infections and they were less severe. People also saw their doctor less often. We have updated Germ Defence for COVID-19 - which is caught in the same way as other viruses - and we now want to find out how effective Germ Defence is during this pandemic.
